WP- Business Models

Listening to Brain Krosgard’s Pressbit 008: Thinking out loud about WordPress business models gave me a few idea’s following the logic (with a painful thought numbing headache mind you) I got an idea for a business model.

Brain mentions selling 5 hours per theme for customization, in my experience it takes longer to draw out what a client truly wants the appearance of the site to be. Now Envato’s Themeforest makes a good marketplace so I was thinking, design something that passes their standards, but do not add in a custom admin panel for moving thinks around all willy-nilly. On your jump site linked to the theme offer ‘farther services’ for people that purchase the theme.

Now somehow themes get ‘stolen’ and ‘passed along’ which is not only piracy and money lost for designers but a total lost of a client that values your work to the point of researching a way to steal it!

Now with the controls out of the users hands, the back end of WordPress is not corrupted by branding and when the customers refer themeselves to you it will be easier to charge a small fee per hour needed. You could sell these in package blocks of time, 5hrs, 10hrs, 40hrs maybe?

Well thats my idea.
