A recent article published by Mashable highlights a study showing how into work US and British office works are getting freely giving time beyond the normal due to increases in technologies, and for it business are being more lax with the work schedule. The study showed workers were checking work related emails and preforming research into maters or colaborating with co-workers before they even clock in, but business are now feeling comfortable letting them clock in shy of forty minutes late in the States, and close to thirty abroad.

But the mixing does not end there. Workers are taking work home and checking emails and processing work related projects till approximately after 7pm. Two hours after they have left work. So that is approximately three hours of free work that employers are getting out of employees for free every day just for not being jerks. But to put the cherry on top these employees are working on their lunch breaks to.

So the lesson he is let your employees that work for the love of the job, recognition and have that general slack open view to life be late to work. You do not have to pay them for the time they are not on the clock and they will be more productive.

YVD is a powerful emulator from Xerocreative for the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG/OCG Card Game, but due to its lack luster programming propitiatory code, and lack of man power it has not aged well into the fourth generation of the game. With the 9.0 update some years ago the system is barely changed but for some internal URL information to 9.1.

Duel Network the competitor that put the system “out-of-business” is suffering it own problems and with Konami pulling the plug on its Online system in the coming months a new competitor has finally shown its head, YGOPro. The system is from Chinese developers and is translated by a programmer to english by the name of Percival18. Since then the ever dead KCVDS programmers have [poorly] created a over system and granted the system network access to its serves allowing large scale play.

The system features a number of what I can only describe as graphical atrocioucities and being opensource I have the free right to edit mod or generally correct those errors. So I will be moving away from the YVD Graphical support market to make Backgrounds and card covers and see if I can do anything to fix a number of interface issues with the system.

The system shows extremely strong power but just needs some gloss and programming stability. Stability will come, and so will more cards just due to its opensource status, but I’ll personally be trying to add in that gloss. Look for my art here under Portfolio –> YGOPro Backgrounds.

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of ConnectMyDNA.com for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

	Race and ethnicity are a not blind issues for adults, teens, and children. We commonly see the picture of two babies of different races in a grocery store reaching out for each other to signify racial blindness. From my own experience being multiracial its very difficult to relate to other people, other people of other races. It's human to want to connect, but people tend to need visuals.

Public school taught me this tough lesson. Others judge you based on race for both reasons good and bad. To give reason to stereotype you, hate you, put you down but conversely trust you, befriend you, truly connect with you.

	In elementary school things got award quick when the subject of race came up. I am clearly not white, my skin is to light to be immediately identified as black, my skin is not a red tone more of a yellow, my hair is kinky completely untamable (thank god I am a guy) and a dark rust color, my teeth are funny shaped. I am extremely short, my eyes are squinted and empty. Black kids did not like me I was not built for sports and the girls thought I was cute but off limits because I was special. I got treated like trophy.

	Looking at my family I see where each of my traits come from but they are mute with clear questions in thier voices on the subject so being clueless I always marked "other" on standardized test. So with all these questions I've finally found some answers with The Gene Ring. The Gene Ring is a stylized graph representing what population markers you DNA has. Like the gene chart they show in crime shows but only showing small pieces and nothing personal. Each Gene Ring is unique, because your DNA is unique, like a fingerprint.

	The ring is a stylized graph of the genetic similarities of you verses other groups around the world. It does not say that you are from that place, only that you share a few genetic similarities. An explanation why no one in my family ages would be nice and I feel I may be able to find that here.

	Anyone of african-american decent can not say they are not curious what region of Africa they could genetically call home. Again the ring only tells similarities not ancestry, it is made to make connections for today, not to the pass, meet people that you can feel comfortable around because you know in some way they are family.

	I am sending off to get the ring because I am curious. Curious why I look black or Native American, but can drink like my Irish friends. It takes over 90 ounces of vodka to make me dizzy in the morning, nor do i get violent or dumb. Firewater gives me no grief.

	I am curious why my family does not seem to visibly age. My mother is over 40 and she passes for a teenager, my grandmother early thirties at the worst, my grandfather looks his age but does not move like it my great grand mother is pushing into her 90s and she still looks like she is in her 50s.

	I am curious why my eyes are squint and dark as if I am from asia. Why my hair was reddish as a child and dark now. That just has to be genetic.

	I plan to learn something new about myself, and you can too with the knowledge that you get. It is something that you can show your whole family and share with friends.

	Lucky for me I got this promo code IZEA290512, you are free to use it also. It takes the price down to $29 a ring, so for the amount of information the deal is nice. Try it yourself at ConnectMyDNA(TM). The site offers an FAQ if you have any other questions about the ring.

	The orders are tracked using serial numbers for privacy reason so no names are attached to the rings.

I admit based on TF reviews its not the best as far as design goes for what ever reason but it is very unique and works well. I am willing to do the support for it, along with updates.

Envato is requiring a new sorta “protocol” for our themes on Themeforest. The code can be found on Github as envato-wordpress-toolkit-library. I found it fairly simple to use and after recent post in the community about how users tend to not update themes after purchase not only I but Envato deemed it a requirement, literally. I’ll quote here but the original article can be found at Envato Notes

To ensure automatic updates work consistently across all WordPress themes we’re now making this a mandatory inclusion. Authors, starting from Wednesday 4th April, please ensure you update your WordPress themes on ThemeForest and upload a WordPress Theme ZIP file for each of your themes.-Japheth Thomson

Now this means its required, no real reason for it not to be besides no one seems to understand how to get it working. I’ll start by saying make sure you are using the toolkit-library and not the plugin. The toolkit-library requires minimal setup.

Step 1
Go to envato-wordpress-toolkit-library project on Github. and download the toolkit-library. Do not get confused and download the plugin.

Step 2
Unzip it and save it somewhere where you can easily access and manipulate it; Desktop works.

Step 3
Copy the envato-wordpress-toolkit-library folder into your theme on the same level as your index.php

Step 4
In the functions.php you will find the following code.

// register an action (can be any suitable action)
add_action('admin_init', 'on_admin_init');
function on_admin_init()
{
    // include the library
    include_once('envato-wordpress-toolkit-library/class-envato-wordpress-theme-upgrader.php');
    $upgrader = new Envato_WordPress_Theme_Upgrader( 'denonstudio', 'xxxxxxxav7hny3p1ptm7xxxxxxxx' );
    /*
     * Uncomment to check if the current theme has been updated
     */
    // $upgrader->check_for_theme_update();
    /*
     * Uncomment to update the current theme
     */
    // $upgrader->upgrade_theme();
}

Copy and paste it into your functions.php UNDER what ever code you use to define your user options, your user will have to input two variables. How you end up defining those variables is up to you. Be sure to include information in your themes documentation explaining what the options are for and why it is so important that they be filled out.

Step 5
Using your choice framework store the two values as variables then find and edit this line.

$upgrader = new Envato_WordPress_Theme_Upgrader( 'denonstudio', 'xxxxxxxav7hny3p1ptm7xxxxxxxx' );

I’m going to take a swing here and say Envato is to smart for their own good this line should read more along the lines of thus:

$upgrader = new Envato_WordPress_Theme_Upgrader( '$purchaser_username', '$purchaser_secret_api' );

Edit the line so it appears as such with your two new variables, basically inputing the user’s Themeforest Username and Secret api.

Step 6
Last un-comment the code, so the two functions can run. Save, done. See simple.

Here is what my final code ended up looking like using the Options Framework for my theme option panel, and later moving the tool-library under the admin folder with the option panel for structure reasons.

// Envato updates
add_action('admin_init', 'on_admin_init');
$themeforestid = of_get_option('themeforestid','');
$tfsecrectapikey = of_get_option('tfsecrectapikey','');
function on_admin_init()
{
	// include the library
	include_once('admin/envato-wordpress-toolkit-library/class-envato-wordpress-theme-upgrader.php');

	$upgrader = new Envato_WordPress_Theme_Upgrader($themeforestid , $tfsecrectapikey );
	$upgrader->check_for_theme_update();
        $upgrader->upgrade_theme();
}

Take a look at the included read me files, and draw your own conclusions, but here are mine; its fairly poorly documented. Below is the meat of the included readme.txt from the toolkit-library

...

== Description ==

This is an example theme to demonstrate usage of the Envato WordPress Toolkit Library. This library is intended for ThemeForest authors to integrate with their WordPress themes, providing automatic update functionality.

Currently this library provides the following functionalities:

* Checks for theme updates on the ThemeForest marketplace
* Upgrades the theme to its latest version

See Installation notes for further instructions.

== Installation ==

1. Copy the `envato-wordpress-toolkit-library` folder into your theme folder
2. View the contents of the `functions.php` for usage examples
3. Customise the code in your theme to accept the user's ThemeForest Username and Secret API Key
4. Instantiate the `Envato_WordPress_Theme_Upgrader` class and call its `check_for_theme_update` and `upgrade_theme` methods at appropriate times. If you want to disable caching be sure to set $allow_cache parameter to false
5. Your theme should now be able to check for updates and update itself!

Over the pass five months I have got to know the WordPress community by starting with who ever I could get in contact with via twitter or blog comments and would stop to give a nod to my barking, rambling, noob, hateful complimentary about working with clients, Envato, designing, working with WordPress and the languages we use. Here is how I feel

I feel that the people in the WordPress Community are open-hearted, but not but not bleeding, some are snobbish, but all are willing to teach and educate to the point of obsession. Few are without a single tutorial on their blogs. They all intelligent, because guess what; the steps to even get to the five-minute install is not for dummies. They are community and family oriented but capitalist. Capitalist gaining work by adding to a free standard and encouraging others to do the same.

Varied in the sites they run, but they all use WordPress to run them. People that are varied in the code they write but it is all related back to PHP HTML CSS JavaScript & MySQL, common languages within the open web and all powering WordPress.

We have here a group of people who rarely venture into the office, go on semi-annual trips around the country and spend time with their families while making a living pulling thoughts out their heads (or asses)

So in this five month trip I’ve fell in love with a world-wide frat family of beer drinking, pot smoking, caffeine addicted, stay at home parents that watch pink animated ponies and brave honey badgers on the nature channel with their children.

Code is poetry, a way of life, and a respect for yourself. Code is first things first.

Finally fixed the after ajax request problem related to the display on my site. It was extremely annoying for me because it just threw the whole look and usability of the site off by cutting off headers, jumping the navigation and making elements invisible. Been aggrivated just looking at it, but here is how I finnally fixed it!

WordPress creates a fixed bar at the top of the screen if you are logged into the site. I also create a navigational bar at the top of the site and it is fixed at 0 also, so the depending on z-index settings one would end up on top of the other. So I wrote into functions.php a function that adds padding equal to the preset height of the WordPress Admin bar [28px]. Next I created an div and gave it an identifier and glued it to the bottom of my header using position:absolute. In the JavaScript I calculated the height of my navigation with jQuery and added a few extra pixels equal to the top padding and margins of the elements below before the text and set the height of the extra identified div to that, the top navigation has box-model set to border-box-model. Finally on ajax load jQuery scrolls to the top of the div, giving the content padding for the navigation bar consistently.

This again has resulted a long standing aggrivation and I’m happy with my finale result.

I’m starting to get the idea that I should not start actively coding till 5:00PM EST, for some reason my skills have been drained untill that time. Today has not been very productive in my opinion. My brain feels sluggish and overworked. Yesterday I did nearly a complete overhaul of the way Isolated Reality deals with the index file and returned it to a more standard implementation.

I also documented the inside of the code. I am one of those coders that people hate because I do not normally document my code, but in this case it has been extremely documented up. At this point I am wrestling with the decision to actually remove some of the theme options and refine the process to only one database call. All in all by the end of everything by the time I start my next coding block I would have definitely broken my site again. Then there is still the issue of styling the demo site so that it shows off Isolated Realities many options and extended potential.

Finally there is the dreaded documentation which I am just totally horrible at writing and have been blatantly putting off.

The reviews that I get from Envato’s Themeforest just tend to kill my spirit but I do need the extra income or I’ll contiune to die on the inside emotionally. This is now a matter of survival using my very mind as my muscles, and my muscles have given out. I feel so hurt when I see works like Catalyst from Catalyst Themes.

Well five is coming around corner I guess it is time for my mind to magically snap back in to gear.

As my teenage years concluded I came to believe that hope makes you miserable, it lets you down, kills your spirit because somethings that you but your hope in just will not come to fruition. I would detach myself from hope if it was not a natural human trait. Here is how I have come to deal with hope.

To start I do not let it go lose without logic, if I have hope in something it has to have some logical backing. Hope is naturally optimistic, so I try to set all the variables to minimums and worst case scenarios to counteract this skewing nature. I can never rid myself of it so I try to put it to practical use.

Hope is designed to be a motivator. In my unfortunate case extremely overly so to the point it depresses me, because internally I am pushing myself to an standard or achievement that is not realistically obtainable in a reasonable amount of time. So I put my motivations in other people and keep my own personal goals to a minimal so I won’t hurt myself.

I make an effort to not get hope and faith confused. Faith is is actions for a promise, and hope is actions for a possibility. I have faith in God and the principle of love, that is all. Everything else has to be measured for logic as application to obtain stock in my hope.

My hopes are designed from blueprints in my dreams, but some dreams are just fantasies and should never become hopes. Some are of grandeur some of outward violence others of self destruction. These are not ever to be hopes just thoughts removing daily mental pressure.

Everyday I deal with hope and trying to keep it in check; I prefer my sanity.

As more and more authors create more and more highly customize-able WordPress Themes and slightly differing yet individual themes we as theme authors need to be more responsible with the way we add them to our themes. Here is a solution

To start off I suggest creating a
shortcodes.php
file and tossing all the code that concerns the shortcodes into it. This will include en-queuing any CSS and placing that CSS in a separate file. Well we run into a issue with optimization. The browser will have to load a second CSS file. A second step can be added. Create a function that echos the shortcode CSS in a
style
element in the head using
add_action('wp_head', 'shortcode_css_echo_function');
. Make sure each shortcode has a theme idenifier like
[theme_xxx_shortcode]$content[/theme_xxx_shortcode]

The final step is documenting this for the end user. Simply say:

To take the shortcodes with you, place the
shortcodes.php
file in your theme and add
include "shortcode.php";
to the
function.php
file. Simple line of code, and this increases the value of the them.

I personally feel the end-user should learn HTML and a bit of CSS, but shortcodes have there uses.
